This groundbreaking project began in June 2007, as a grassroots response to the Howard Government’s controversial “Emergency Intervention” into Aboriginal communities in the Northern Territory.

Since then, the film has developed into a rollercoaster journey through Australia’s Indigenous relations, from colonisation until the present day. It exposes and examines Australia’s ongoing policies of paternalism and assimilation, explains the real issues underlying Indigenous disadvantage, and opens dialogue on
solutions based upon mutual respect and cross-cultural co-operation.

Particular focus is on the experiences of the Yolngu of Northeast Arnhem Land, one of the last strongholds of traditional Aboriginal culture in Australia.

The film is a fresh, bottom-up look at unresolved issues, driven by a powerful all-Australian soundtrack, including John Butler Trio, Yothu Yindi and Archie Roach.

We need your support to help us get it finished and ready for Australia to watch.
