Israeli war crimes in Lebanon
Israel committed more war crimes this week, this time against Lebanese people. Over the past 12 months in 2023/24, since the genocide in Gaza commenced, resistance groups in Lebanon, Iraq, Yemen and Gaza have been hitting IDF military targets. Till now Hezbollah has restricted its operations to the north of Palestine. The various resistance groups named have acted in solidarity with Palestinians suffering genocide in Gaza. Meanwhile Israel has annexed and occupied the West Bank with settlers backed up by government and military forces.
Hezbollah does not act like Israel. Prime Minister Netanyahu has ordered the IDF to blow up people in their homes, reducing apartment blocks in Beirut to rubble, murdering people while shopping at markets, in their cars, killing kids in schools and medical staff in hospitals. Of course Israeli propaganda says that it is not attacking Lebanese people yet it bombs their homes, their cars and so on. Israel’s lies are laughable yet they are repeated in corporate media and the ABC in Australia.
These massacres are what Israel calls its Dahiya doctrine, hurting people so much that they lose the will to fight back or in this case to show solidarity with Palestinians. World wide protests against this murderous assault on people in Lebanon have already begun. Locally, Justice for Palestine Magandjin in Brisbane have organised a rally for Sunday 13th of October 2024 at 1pm in Queen’s Gardens with a march to the ABC at Southbank.
WBT has reported Israeli war crimes in Lebanon since 2006. In 2024, Lebanese people are fleeing and trying to find refuge in public schools, in Matyrs Square, homeless on the streets.
Israel is forcing people to move from south to north (reports suggest that, by day three of the war on Lebanon, Israel has displaced hundreds of thousands of people). Israel have done the same to Palestinians in Gaza over the past 12 months. This rogue state is skilled at killing ordinary people, women and children. Psychopaths in Israel call people ‘targets‘. Already, Israeli bombardment extends from the south of Lebanon and up the Beqaa Valley. Israel is turning Lebanon into another Gaza, another West Bank. Israel is treating Lebanese people as they treat Palestinians.
As one Lebanese-Australian person, Hassan Awada, from a village on the border of occupied Palestine told the ABC breakfast show this morning, Israel has been doing this since 1948 said
“You have to be extremely naive, and you have to be living on a different planet to Earth to actually believe that that Hezbollah weapons that are killing their own people. It is Israeli bombs. It’s Israeli fighter jets that are actually blowing up anything that remotely appear … or Israel thinks it might be Hezbollah, and that might be just an excuse.
I mean, blowing up an apartment building in the middle of Beirut full of residents, full of innocent people, not sure how anybody can actually believe such a story and the lies that are coming out of Israel, they they are so blatant that I’m not sure anyone believes in anything.” Yet the ABC announcer continued to pus the line that it was Hezbollah’s fault that so many people had died.” – Hassan Awada said. In truth, Israel has declared another war on the Lebanese people. The US President and western leaders will end up like Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor of Judea in occupied Palestine, washing their hands of the genocide of the Palestinian people. The only ones who have stood up to Israel are the resistance, the ordinary people, both there and here.
