Is Boris Kaput?

Can the Privy Council dissolve the UK parliament?

The President of the Privy Council is Jacob Rees-Mogg (a catholic) and is likely to be trying to get the Council members to advise Her Majesty to prorogue the parliament.

Her Majesty could take advice from the Attorney General, who is (inter alia) “Chief legal adviser to the Crown.”

Mr. Cox, the AG, is a supporter of Brexit, but was also a distinguished lawyer before becoming an MP. He’s already given a view that if a general election is called (and therefore the Government is in Purdah), then they should seek an extension to Article 50 withdrawal… but he’s not so naive as to believe that it’s a certainty that the EU would grant that.

Given the Royal prerogative if Boris Johnson advises the Queen to prorogue Parliament to prevent it blocking Brexit, the Queen may not comply given the economic chaos that is likely to follow a No Deal Brexit.

Boris may well be kaput.
