The decisions made by the G20 affect us all. They are the reason we have to campaign to save forests, stop coal and CSG mining, protect the reef, oppose GMOs and food irradiation, oppose war games and militarism, fight for workers’ rights, demand equality, address colonisation, etc etc.

We invite all community groups and individuals to join us over the next 6 months in responding to the G20 through collaborative education, media production, action planning, alternative forum development and more!

Join us!

Another world is possible. What it looks like is up to us!

4) The G20 and Homelessness

Join Senior Sergeant Mark Smith from the Qld Police
Service to discuss how the G20 will impact on homeless people and the use of public space
Thursday 2nd of October at 12:30
New Farm Neighbourhood Centre
967 Brunswick St New Farm

New Farm Neighbourhood Centre is hosting a public G20 meeting next Thursday at the Centre from 12:30 focussing on the impact of G20 upon Homeless and marginalised people using public space. The local community is anxious regarding the interface of this huge security operation, concurrent recent increased policing in response to terror threats and pre existing vulnerabilities. I’m sure this is the case in your inner city communities as well.

Mark Smith will speak on behalf of the G20 group and we have asked Corey Allen along to discuss general policing in this pressured environment. All are welcome and I’ve attached a flyer for your information or distribution.

5) Caxton Legal Centre’s next public information session on the G20 (Safety and Security) Act

During the G20 Summit weekend (November14 – 16) there will be broad laws covering security areas in Brisbane’s inner-city.

Caxton Legal Centre’s Independent Legal Observer Project is hosting a free community information session to explain how these laws could affect you and your rights.

Come along to find out more.

(Ground Level), 266 George Street Brisbane City
