Are You Joining the Worldwide Action to End the US Blockade of Cuba?
Sunday 30 May 9.30 AM
Meet at the Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens Carpark Let us know you’re coming to ‘Convoy for Cuba’
The Answers to all your Questions Why are we doing this?
The United Nations general assembly is scheduled to vote on the annual call to end the US Blockade of Cuba in early June, and the solidarity movement around the world is mobilising in support.
After more than 60 punishing years, it’s time to end this failed policy. Join the Brisbane branch of the Australia-Cuba Friendship Society in the ‘Convoy for Cuba’ and add your voice to the call to build #BridgesOfLove (#PuentesDeAmor) and to #UnBlockCuba
What is the plan for the day?
We are meeting in the Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens car park, to deck out some of our cars with Cuban flags and placards before driving to the summit lookout at Mt Coot-tha.
There we will take a group photo overlooking the city with our banners and flags. We will drive in a circuit and end back at the botanic gardens for morning tea.
When will it finish?
We anticipate that we will finish around 11 am.
There will be plenty of time for participants to return to the city for the Latin American solidarity action being planned as part of the Disrupt Land Forces activities.
Who can come?
The more the merrier! It’s going to be very enjoyable. Friends, cousins, brothers and sisters, grandchildren welcome!
What will the weather be like?
The Bureau of Meteorology is predicting a dry cool day (max 22°C) with very little chance of rain. The UV rating will be high so make sure you have a hat and sunscreen.
Are their special COVID considerations?
While Queensland currently has no community transmission of COVID-19, we should be ‘Covid-Safe’.
Bring a face mask and hand sanitiser to be on the safe side.
