Trev’s Forecast for next 7 Days from 5 May

Well we just had a storm overnight and more are predicted today (Wednesday). When was the last time I can remember storms with large hail predicted for May? While I can’t remember and would need time to analyse data, I’ve been observing the weather closely now for the past 30 years and have to say that May storms are pretty unusual, particularly as westerly winds are predicted to occur for the next couple of days.  By comparison, our more usual summer storms are mostly feed by north-easterly winds bringing moisture in off the ocean. More on storms another time but here’s a link to Storm Brisbane Storms website that gives detailed explanations of the coming weather.

This is how it is looking for the next 7 days. It’s a real mixture, with instability bringing storms and rain, and winds changing from westerly to northerly and round to south easterly later in the week. This is all due to the passage of a trough and cold front and then the formation of an east coast low just off the northern New South Wales coast.  It also means that temperatures can swing more with cooler days in the first couple of days and warmer days mid week.

So if you hoping to get out and about in the bush or beach, it looks better in a day or twos time.

See ya next week. Trev The Weatherman
