May Day, Brisbane 2021

Traditionally Workers of all countries Unite carry a banner from St. Paul’s Terrace down through the Valley to the exhibition grounds as part of the Labor Day March on 3 May 2021.

2021 will be no different.

At about 9.30am we’ll be at the top of St. Paul’s Terrace, on the corner of Boundary Street, Spring Hill with the banner shown. At about 10am we will march behind the union contingents to the exhibition grounds.

We encourage people who are members of unions to march with their unions, but if they should feel so inclined, during the march, if they wish to drop back and participate in the red contingent, led by the workers of all countries unite! banner, well, you’re most welcome.

For members of the Left and Community groups you are welcome to join us. We do not care if you are radical feminists, if you are supporters of Julian Assange, if you are straight or queer, gay or transgender, if you want to stop the land forces expo in Brisbane Convention Center. We don’t care if you’re student centrists, we just don’t care if you are woke or if you support international working women or if you are radical chic, we do not care if you support Palestine. But you can’t march if you are a member of the southern Lebanese army.

We will be marching so that workers of all countries can unite!

So if you support that banner, then we would be honoured if you will march along with us to the exhibition grounds to participate in the celebrations there.

Ok. If you have a hankering to know about the venerable history of Anarchist activism in Brisbane then the Barbara Hart walking tour of Anarchist history is for you.

Here are the list of places we’ll be visiting on the Anarchist History Walk to be held on May 1st . Meet up outside the West End Library at 178 Boundary Street at 10 a.m. All are welcome. The walk will be about 1.5 hours long but you don’t have to do the lot. We’ll finish by meeting up in Bunyapa Park on the corner of Vulture Street and Thomas Street.

Ange will be there adding colour and humour to the spots that she is old enough to have been a part of. This exciting and fun-filled tour will start at the West End library at 10am on Saturday 1 May.
