What are we doing here today?

We’re gathered together at the end of the Goodwill Bridge. We’re on a walk for Cuba. that will take us across the Goodwill Bridge and through Brisbane and back to the Botanic Gardens through the city. Our aim today is to raise awareness about the blockade of Cuba imposed by the United States, which has been in place for over 60 years and calling for its immediate and total lifting. We’re part of an international campaign worldwide, a campaign of which involves activities over this weekend, calling for the Biden administration to immediately lift the blockade.

What’s your personal connection with Cuba,

Lachlan Hurse 

Cuba, for me is a place I’ve visited on several occasions, I have a very strong connection with the music of Cuba, particularly what’s called the Nueva Trova or the new song movement, which is a movement of musicians that expresses through song political and social ideas,
