US calls Cuba ‘terrorist’ in dying days of Trump administration

In my lifetime Cuba was only a threat to the United States during the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962 when there was a Soviet military build up on the island. So why does the Trump administration want to call Cuba terrorist? Is the administration worried about the pink tide in Latin America?

The Moncada Barracks was a military barracks in Santiago de Cuba, Cuba, named after the General Guillermón Moncada, a hero of the Cuban War of Independence. On 26 July 1953 Fidel Castro led a failed coup but later raised popular support and won the revolution. Photo: Lachlan Hurse

Perhaps they are worried by China’s investment in the region? Venezuela, sanctioned and deserted by the US, is fast becoming a client state of China. The US administration will have to re-think its approach towards Cuba and to Latin America.

This is such a cynical move by the US in the dying days of the Trump administration deserves universal condemnation. End the blockade now!

Solidarity with Cuba!
