Great night thanks to Sarah Calderwood, Paul Brandon and Jumping Fences (Sue Monk, Lachlan Hurse, James Harper and Ross Gwyther) … hopefully we can return to full Foco Nuevo concerts again soon. Kurilpa Hall is open for lunch on Thursdays again but still has a limit of 30 people. Access to suitable venues is going to be a big issue in 2021.

Foco Nuevo, the monthly concert hosted by Jumping Fences – Sue Monk and Lachlan Hurse, accompanied by Ross Gwyther and James Harper, and featuring guests Sarah Calderwood and Paul Brandon playing a mix of Celtic and original tunes.
With the easing of COVID-19 restrictions, we have shifted to house concerts in our back yard, the concert presented here was held on 4th December 2020.

Message from Jumping Fences
| Dear friends of Foco Nuevo, We wish you a very happy New Year and thank you for your support throughout 2020. After celebrating our 12th anniversary in March, our regular venue closed due to the COVID pandemic, and we cancelled Foco Nuevo indefinitely. But, taking a lead from other musicians, we decided to venture into streaming Foco Nuevo. We used the lockdown to reconnect with some friends and present a series of online concerts focussing on Latin American singer-songwriters from Cuba, Mexico, Chile, the United States, Spain and Denmark, who have made great contributions to our streamed concerts during the year. We sincerely thank all those who have participated, it has been wonderful. With no foreseeable return to our home base at Kurilpa Hall, we need to consider alternatives for Foco Nuevo. For the last two months we have held smaller, intimate house concerts at our home, and we have been thrilled with the vibe and the feedback from both musicians and audiences. As we approach our 13th anniversary, we will take time over the break to reassess the future of Foco Nuevo, to ensure we can continue into 2021 and beyond. Lovely performances by our guests Sarah Calderwood and Paul Brandon, as well as songs by yours truly, Jumping Fences, should make for enjoyable watching. Ross and James have again added another dimension to our songs throughout the year; we sincerely thank them for their musicianship, their support and comradeship. Thanks also to Robin Etter-Cleave and to Ovidio and Oscar Orellana for their lovely musical contributions during the year.
