Rhodes Hart (1953 to 2020).
Rhodes has been an important part of the movement for change in Brisbane over the past 40 years. He was a scientist – working both in developing groundbreaking research in earthquake studies, and more recently astronomical work in Toowoomba. He was a scholar – studying and writing on topics as diverse as quantum mechanics, Marxist labour theory of value, and philosophical investigations. He was a community activist, deeply committed and active in the cause of justice for Aboriginal people, helping many people who care for those close to them with disabilities, and searching for ways in which he could assist in the movement for fundamental change in our unjust social system. He was a thoughtful, caring and empathetic person who endeared himself to all of us who spent time with him. Rhodes – you will be greatly missed. – Ross Gwyther
