YellowBird

A local band for local people. They’ve played the Boundary and Laura Street Festivals, the opening of Bunyapa Park, Grill’d on Boundary and previous Foco Nuevo’s. Outside 4101 they’ve performed at Sandgate Christmas lights and with Muster Ukes at Gympie Musters. They’ve led the West End Brisbane Ukulele Musician Society (WE BUMS). Francesca Lejeune and Geoffrey Smith warble sweet harmonies, Wayne Reinhardt licks the electric guitar and banjo, Geoffrey plays guitar, uke and saw and Francesca ukulele.

The New Middle Class

Emerging in Brisbane on Jagera and Turrbal country in 2018 from another of Tom Smith’s projects which captured the imaginations of vocalist Rachel and cellist David for its joy spreading and community reweaving possibilities. Listening to people’s stories and turning them into songs, it is in this confessional, narrative vein that The New Middle Class continues to develop. The band features: Elise Clark, Rohan Whiteley, Tom Smith, Josa Rubbra, Rachel Walker and David Laczko.

Their new album For The Sake of the Story is available on Bandcamp.

Jumping Fences

With a unique fusion of Latin American and original songs, Jumping Fences create a sensitive insight into the daily struggles of people. The song-writing partnership of Sue Monk and Lachlan Hurse, together with James Harper and Ross Gwyther play arrangements that move easily between tenderness and energy, supporting lyrics that weave a rich fabric from the poetry of everyday life.
