I agree with Praxidice’s comment except that I acknowledge that there are some very nice people who work and have worked for Micah, just as there are many nice people who are employed by the police, Public Trustee, DoCS etc. This however does not mitigate the oppressive nature and function of the institution.
Micah was central to the mainstreaming of Aboriginal services in West End. See following link. I am sure that Micah has helped some Aboriginal people but if they did not conspire with others to destroy the Musgrave Park Aboriginal Corporation, these Aboriginal people would be receiving support from Aboriginal organisations instead.
I am sure Micah has also been very supportive of victims of sexual abuse by Catholic priests too. However Micah administered the Catholic Church’s response to such abuse – the Esther victim support group, a response designed to keep the abuse out of the courts and managed in-house by the church. Micah did eventually abandon the Esther program but only after it was condemned by real victim support groups and the Royal commission.
Micah is an institution of oppression. It is the lubricant by which the rich and powerful shaft the poor and oppressed.

I think you should explain your claims about Micah using fact rather than low level abuse.
In my personal knowledge, Micah have helped an aboriginal woman victim to violence at the hands of the state when DOCS took her child away from grannies and family in the neonatal ward at the Mater hospital. Micah workers have done their best to salvage something from the wreck left by an unequal and racist society. Father Terry from St Mary’s-in-exile is involved with Micah and he was helpful in getting the money for the truck in the Brisbane Aboriginal Sovereign Embassy food program. He gave us a reference for the Gambling fund that put up the money to buy the truck.
Here is an interview I did with Karyn Walsh from MICAH some time ago about two aboriginal woman evicted from their houses by the Dept. of Housing.
