The way things are going for the LNP, disunity between Turnbull and Abbott, early onset dementia in its leadership … Turnbull did propose that the States raise their own income taxes … something not done since 1936 when the Commonwealth Income Tax Assessment Act was introduced, they will lose the 2016 election.

On the other hand, Mr Kneipp does appear to be on a winner with his proposal to Tax the Rich.

Turnbull’s proposal to give back taxation powers to the states frightened everyone, especially the economists. The reason we have federal taxation is because the states alone are not capable of distributing resources and infrastructure evenly across this big continent. Malcolm, the destroyer of the National Broadband Network, wanted to destroy what little is left of equality in Australia by handing one hundred year old powers back to the states.

If Tax the Rich Party gets off the ground with the required 500 members, it may not claim to be as influential as a Henry George but may be inspired by his vision of humanity:

And Kneipp, living in obscurity, and even poverty, on Brisbane’s northside, is certainly no Clive Palmer. After the Four Corners revelations on Monday night (11 April 2016) Palmer must be regretting, every living moment, his decision to enter the Federal Parliament via the seat of Fairfax. Cheryl Kernot could not hold it, even after her defection to the ALP, so why would Palmer and his dinosaurs?

A Shorten government would mean more pain for workers and their organisations, the unions. It was Shorten who cut the deals that meant cleaners got half their entitlements and no penalty rates (from memory $18 per hour) during the Sydney Olympics. Shorten is no friend of the workers, his likely election will mean much pain for everyone. More wars and racist vilification, further attacks on unions, destruction of the environment, no respite for the refugees (they may even re-introduce TPVs), economic disaster … Unions must break with the ALP now, before it is too late.

The upside for voting for the Tax the Rich Party?
It may never get its proposals off ground let alone adopted, but let’s dream a little shall we?

What’s say they set tax rate at at 50% of all wealth held by the 1%?
