2013 Climate Report

Annual Climate Report 2013

The Annual Climate Report is the Bureau of Meteorology’s official historical record of the previous year’s climate. It provides a national overview of temperature and rainfall during the year, and documents significant weather and climate events.

2013 was Australia’s warmest year on record. Persistent and widespread warmth throughout the year led to record-breaking temperatures and several severe bushfires. Nationally-averaged rainfall was slightly below average.

Previously known as the Annual Climate Summary, this report contains a more in-depth analysis of the past year’s climate, following on from the Annual Climate Statement released earlier in the year.
