Mulivaikal Remembrance Day

rac-bannerThis event marks the fourth anniversary of the extremely violent end of the Sri Lankan civil war, which featured many war crimes, resulting in massive suffering for civilians of all sides, but most particularly for the Tamils, who were targeted in their thousands by the victorious Sri Lankan Army. Brisbane’s Tamil community has held this event every May since then, to remember and honour the victims, both living and dead, of these horrific events.

From a refugee supporter’s point of view it is a reminder of the continuing persecution of Tamils in Sri Lanka, which is the real reason for the flow of asylum seekers from that country towards Australia.

When: 5pm, Sunday 19th May.

Where: Senior Citizens Hall, 9 Maryvale St, Toowong.

Program: Guest speakers, solemn memorial ceremony and prayers from the diverse Tamil religious traditions.

Presented by: Australian Tamil Congress (Qld Chapter) and Sri Lanka Justice Forum Brisbane.

All are cordially invited. Please come and support the call for justice and accountability.
