Protecting people and human rights
An Australian solution for refugees that will really save lives
We invite you to join us with Julian Burnside, Pamela Curr, Adam Bandt and other refugee experts and advocates at a community forum
on the current crisis in refugee policy. The forum will discuss the proposal in Oakeshott’s Bali Bill, why it should be opposed, and alternative proposals to respond to asylum seekers, especially those who arrive by boat.
With the current focus on this issue, we are keen to discuss approaches which could be implemented now to save lives and protect human rights.
Discussion at the Forum will include:
- The importance of shifting the policy debate from deterrence and border protection to protecting the human rights of asylum seekers
- Proposals for policy alternatives being put to the Expert Panel by refugee experts and advocates
- Information about the legal and human rights implications of different approaches
- Ways to influence the public debate
COME ALONG AND BE PART OF THIS MOST IMPORTANT DISCUSSION
