Update for Julian Assange Brisbane Rally

Hi everyone,

We are all still waiting for a verdict on Julian’s extradition case from the UK Supreme Court. For those that don’t know, we were recently contacted by the UK Supreme Court and have been advised, that we will be told the date the judgement will be made prior to it being handed down. We will possibly be given five days prior notice.

I am sorry about the nature of this event. I like many of you, thought it could happen any day. And perhaps you had quite a few late nights because of it. I know I did. The judgment was thought to be made in the original time frame that was put up. At this time it is unknown to me when it will happen.

At least now that we will be given some notice, We will have a date to work around and it will be far easier to organise a GREAT rally. I hope you all will come.

There will be an action at the rally focused on the Foreign Affairs Minister Bob Carr using ‘killer facts’.

A human chain of ‘killer facts’ will be presented to the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade at the rally. I have attached a list of ‘killer facts’ that Christine Assange has put out for people to use.Make your own placard before the rally from Christine’s fact sheet, or perhaps you have your own ‘killer fact’.

Read from Bob Carrs blog what he thinks of demonstrations and why we will be presenting him with the ‘killer facts’ on Julian Assange and WikiLeaks.

“As a Premier I never saw a demonstration that didn’t hurt the side that mounted it. And I was never persuaded by a noisy crowd with a few placards. A carefully mounted case with killer facts was a different proposition.”

If you have something you would like to contribute to the rally please don’t hesitate to contact me. If you are from a organisation perhaps your organisation would like to be part of the rally. I’d like to hear from you.

I am also looking for people who would like to get involved in banner actions before the rally. It would involve being available for an hour in the morning or the evening at rush hour. We can team people up together. Or perhaps you have your own team already.
