We are taking the unusual step of contacting friends on the Foco Nuevo mailing list about a special concert this Wednesday night by a touring Cuban band: JJ Son with guest vocalist, Idalbelis.

The band has been brought to Australia by the union movment, with the Queensland leg sponsored by the Electrical Trades Union.

JJ Son specialises in traditional Cuban music, in the style of the Buena Vista Social Club, and will feature their guest vocalist: Idalbelis. You can view them on YouTube to get an idea of their style by clicking

This concert is being organised by the Australia-Cuba Friendship Society in association with the ETU (Qld and NT), a group which we have had a long association.

It would be great to see you at this very unusual, but welcome chance to see this type of Cuban music in Brisbane

  1. How do I get the tickets directly at the entrance?
WHat is the capacity of the hall where the concert will take place?
